Dubrovnik

We flew to Dubrovnik on Tuesday morning after a long overnight at Madrid airport. We walked into the baggage carousel area where we ran into the rest of the family, and after collecting our bags we were headed into town. Dubrovnik has been a bit of down time before we head on our wee tiki tour towards Greece, so we’ve done a fair bit of blobbing.

We did head down to the old town for a look around, of course. It was quite interesting to wander down the little streets and explore the area. We headed down early-ish which I’m glad about, as by the time we were leaving a couple of hours later, people were streaming through the gates and it was getting quite crowded with tour groups.

One afternoon we wandered down to a little cove near our AirBnB with a little pebbly beach. The water was much warmer than when we went to the beach in Porto, so a swim was had – it was very pleasant! We even went in togs this time, rather than our underwear!

Mum and I also broke out the walking poles and headed up Mount Srđ for a little exercise and somee nice views over the city. Robyn and Keith did it the morning before us and recommended it, so we decided to get up early and give it a go. While it wasn’t super difficult, it was rocky and uphill and marked by yellow arrows – with a big cross once we reached the top, we may as well have been back on the Camino! Luckily it wasn’t quite as long as a Camino day – it was getting warm by the time we got home.

Speaking of walking, while a few of us were walking down by the port, we saw a snake in the hedge. It was probably about a metre long, maybe 5cm in diameter, and brown in colour. I didn’t get a photo, but it was interesting to see!

Anyways, tomorrow we’re off to Montenegro in the morning for the beginning of the next stage of our trip. In the meantime I’ll leave you with a couple of pics. Note the turtles that were in the garden at our AirBnB!
