Hi everyone! Late last night we arrived in Shenzhen, where we will be spending the next 10 months teaching – yay! I have been placed in Longhua, which is not of the outer districts of the city, so quite a mission into the centre but it will be interesting I’m sure.
The last few days teaching in Beijing were fun, I got photos with my class and all the kids put on a talent show. We also got our tefl certificates. Then the day before yesterday we had a free day before taking the evening train so went to the forbidden city, and had a bit of a better look at Beijing city, rather than just hanging around the university. It was really cool to see. Then in the evening we caught the train to Shenzhen. We were in the hard sleepers, so 3 level bunks lined along the carriage . The train ride took about 25 hours but probably wasn’t as bad as 25 hours on a cramped smelly train might sound. It was air conditioned at least. Finally arrived in Shenzhen around 9pm yesterday and made our way to the hotel. So much nicer than the hotel in Beijing! We are here for 2 more nights before we go out to our schools. Eek! This morning we had to go apply for our residence permits,, and after lunch we will be going for our medical exams. Fun times!!
internet is still scarce and I am sick of writing on my phone so unfortunately I will leave this for now but fingers crossed soft a real connection to the Internet soon!!
